Ursuline College Welcomes Jenzabar’s
Total Campus Management
ERP, Web Portal and LMS Will Improve Constituent Experiences
Cambridge, MA — September 19, 2005 — Jenzabar, Inc., the pioneer of Total Campus Management (TCM) solutions for higher education, is welcoming Ursuline College to the Jenzabar family. Ursuline has contracted for the Jenzabar EX ERP System, along with Jenzabar’s Internet Campus Solution and Learning Management System, to bring Total Campus Management to the College. The decision was a culmination of an extensive review process encompassing the range of available software solutions for higher education. The selection of Jenzabar was based on the applicability of its product set to the College’s specific needs, along with strong endorsements from other Ohio-based Jenzabar clients.
“Ursuline College is pleased to be involved with Jenzabar,” said Sister Pat McCaffery, Ursuline College Vice President for Enrollment. “The company impressed us with its products and even more so with its people, who have shown a great deal of integrity—they listened to our needs, and they gave us direct answers to our questions. Jenzabar also provided an implementation plan and service agreement that was better defined than those of the other vendors we reviewed. Those considerations, along with excellent references from other institutions, sold us on Jenzabar as the company with which we felt the most comfortable doing business,” she added.
Ursuline College is seeking to deliver student services online as well as facilitate the ability of administrators to access and analyze student data. The College has established a goal to grow its enrollment, and Jenzabar’s integrated portal environment with the ability to offer self-service through the Web was deemed critical to achieving this goal and meeting current constituent expectations. Nearly half of Ursuline’s student population are transfer students who have had online interactions with other institutions, and Sister McCaffery indicated that many of these students have expressed a desire for Web-based student services from Ursuline.
Ursuline College’s receipt of a Title III grant made funding available to strengthen the institution, triggering the decision to effect improvements in the College’s administrative systems and processes. Among the benefits to the College’s community, students will be able to register and make payments online as well as audit their academic progress. Student record-keeping will be streamlined, as data needs to be entered only once and can then be made available to all departments across campus. Ursuline also expects to improve institutional research capabilities, particularly in analyzing student retention.
“We are especially proud to welcome Ursuline College into the Jenzabar family as we know that the College undertook an exhaustive vendor review process leading up to their decision,” said Robert A. Maginn, Chairman and CEO of Jenzabar, Inc. “The College’s decision reflects
the point that it is not simply superior software that drives the selection of a technology partner, but also the people and the company itself. Jenzabar represents the best of both people and technology, and we’ve seen that Institutions of Higher Education are increasingly recognizing this as they choose us over other providers.”
Ursuline College will utilize Jenzabar’s Total Campus Management framework to manage the College’s business and academic activities, with ERP and LMS solutions combined through a Web portal. The ability of faculty and administrative staff to easily access comprehensive, real-time information is primary to the Jenzabar EX ERP solution. Jenzabar EX stores all administrative information on a single integrated database, eliminating the need to enter data more than once—and eliminating the concern that administrators may be using outdated or incomplete information. Jenzabar’s Learning Management System (LMS) delivers tools and strategies to supplement traditional classroom learning. Jenzabar’s Internet Campus Solution (JICS) Web portal provides constituents inside and outside the institution with the information they need, when they need it. It unifies the user interface and point-of-entry for institution-wide applications and content, along with customizable views of department-specific, group-specific, and personalized information based on each user’s defined role(s). Accessing the LMS through the JICS portal enables announcements and updates, Web links, threaded discussion and real-time chat. Further, connecting an institution’s ERP system to its LMS provides students and faculty with course information, schedules, and class lists.
